Outlook 2007 – Hyperlinks and smileys auto format does not work?

leave a comment »

When I typed http:// microsoft.com, my Outlook used to auto format it to a hyperlink like

http://microsoft.com; when I put a smiley like : ), my Outlook used to put a nice smiley like Smile. All of these suddenly stopped working one day, and I somehow knew that the default Outlook editor options got modified.

Long and short, here’s how to enable them.

Tools –> Options –> Mail Format –> Editor Options –> Proofing –> AutoCorrect Options –> AutoFormat As You Type

Enable hibernation in Windows 7

leave a comment »

Just got a new Windows 7 PC at office, and I was trying to enable hibernation for me and couple of other team members. Like a pro, I opened a command prompt as Administrator and typed in powercfg –hibernate on (where?).  Seemed like that worked, but nothing happened on the Shut down options at the Start menu.

One of my colleague pitched in and said, you have to change one more setting in the Power Options dialog. Having had enough acquaintance with the Power Options dialog, I was looking for a straight forward option to enable hibernation in Windows 7 (like how it was in Windows XP), but in vain. Again, with some help, located it at the screenshot below.

Power Options –> Change Power Settings –> Change advanced power settings –> Sleep –> Allow hybrid sleep –> Off

I think I did the same thing on Windows Vista a couple of years back to enable hibernation, but I can’t remember.

Oxymora and Paradoxes from Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

This is such a wonderful, passionate, and incredible list of Oxymora and Paradoxes that Romeo tries to gather  himself as he’s sitting at the beach. The rendition of the dialogue by Romeo (Leo DiCaprio) which is partly edited in the movie Romeo + Juliet will directly communicate with your senses and talk to you, if you have that penchant for art and movies. Later, you might go back to your book and read the dialogue aloud yourself. While you are at it, if you just want to conjure up, you don’t essentially need to be in love with someone or something; from my point of view, this dialogue – besides being a bunch of words contradicting themselves – should frantically appeal to you at your solitary viewpoint.

Here’s much to do with hate, but more with love
Why, then, O brawling love! O loving hate!
O any thing, of nothing first create!
O heavy lightness, serious vanity!
Mis-shapen chaos of well-seeming forms!
Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health!
Still-waking sleep, that is not what is is!
This love feel I, that feel no love in this.
